Strategic Session "Russia-Africa Cooperation in Higher Education in a Changing World"
On March 22nd, the strategic session “Cooperation between Russia and Africa in Higher Education in a Changing World” under the initiative of the Faculty of Social Sciences of HSE University will be held at the HSE campus on Pokrovsky Boulevard. The Ministers of Higher Education of the Republic of Burundi, Republic of Mali, Republic of Niger, the Union of the Comoros, Burkina Faso, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Guinea to the Russian Federation will take part in the session. On the Russian side, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) will be present. Educational cooperation is one of the key aspects for Russian-African relations. Russian expertise can be successfully applied for reforming the higher education system in African countries. The upcoming strategic session will involve discussions on the most promising trajectories of cooperation in higher education and research, improvement of the legal framework for mutual recognition of qualifications (diplomas), establishing efficient mechanisms for popularization and promotion of Russian as the primary foreign language in African universities, and facilitating training of African citizens in Russian universities to meet the needs of specialized agencies.
